Liverpool Suffers Blow as Trent Alexander-Arnold Faces Knee Injury
Liverpool has been hit with unfortunate news as Trent Alexander-Arnold will be sidelined for several weeks due to a knee injury. The 25-year-old sustained the injury during Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Arsenal in the FA Cup third round on Sunday. Pep Lijnders, Liverpool’s assistant manager, confirmed the extent of the injury, stating that Alexander-Arnold hyperextended his knee and has a tear in the lateral ligament. He will need time to recover and undergo rest before returning to his previous form.
Alexander-Arnold’s absence is already felt as he will miss the first leg of Liverpool’s Carabao Cup semi-final. Depending on the severity of his knee problem, he may also be unavailable for Liverpool’s match against Bournemouth after the Premier League’s winter break on January 21. If his recovery takes longer, he could potentially miss additional fixtures, including the return leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Fulham, their FA Cup fourth-round tie, and a Premier League game against Chelsea on January 31.
Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures include matches against Fulham in the Carabao Cup, Bournemouth in the Premier League, Fulham again in the Carabao Cup, Norwich City or Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup, Chelsea in the Premier League, and Arsenal in the Premier League.
