The winger put United ahead at Sheriff Tiraspol, with the team going on to win 2-0 in Moldova as Cristiano Ronaldo scored from the penalty spot.
It was hardly a classic contest, but there was a lovely moment thanks to Sancho after he put his side ahead.
The 22-year-old took off his shinpad and held it up to the crowd, with the pad showing a picture of his own face on it.
The shinpad had been seen in a video on social media when Manchester United fans mobbed Sancho’s car and he stopped to pose for photographs and to sign autographs.
One young fan gave the England star the shinpads with his face on them and the child’s father said that he’ll have to wear them in a game as a result.
Sancho did just that and the young Red Devils fan will be absolutely ecstatic to see that he scored while wearing the shinpads he received as a gift.
United bounced back from their defeat to Real Sociedad in their opening Europa League game of the season and should not have a problem qualifying for the knockout stages of the competition.
The Red Devils do not play this weekend, with their next contest the Manchester derby at the Etihad on 2 October.
