Tottenham nearly signed Pau Lopez in 2016 for just £6m but passed up the option and instead bid just £1.7m. Espanyol rejected the offer and he joined Real Betis before moving to Roma for around £20m in 2019 and is now at Marseille. Paulo Dybala’s move to Tottenham fell through after no agreement could be found regarding the player’s image rights and he remained in Turin until he left for Roma three years ago. Tottenham nearly signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but never called back after showing him around White Hart Lane.
