Alan Shearer Urges Harry Kane to Complete Transfer to Bayern Munich
Alan Shearer, the all-time leading goalscorer in the Premier League, has called on Harry Kane to make the move to Bayern Munich. Tottenham Hotspur recently accepted a £95 million bid from the Bundesliga champions for Kane, and after much deliberation, the striker has decided to leave his boyhood club in search of major silverware.
Shearer, who holds the record for the most goals scored in the Premier League with 260, sees Kane as a major threat to his record. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that he encourages the 30-year-old to take the plunge and join Bayern Munich.
Spurs initially granted Kane permission to fly to Germany to complete the transfer, but there were reports suggesting that the club had revoked that permission. However, Tottenham maintains that these reports are inaccurate.
While the deal seems imminent, there may still be some small conditions that need to be ironed out before Kane officially joins Bayern Munich. One of these conditions is likely to be the transfer fee. Chairman Daniel Levy values Kane closer to £120 million, but the risk of losing their star asset for nothing in a year has complicated negotiations with Bayern.
Kane is about to enter the final year of his contract with Tottenham, which means he could leave for free next summer. This has added urgency to the negotiations and has prompted Kane to consider a move away from England.
The striker has been keen on staying in England to pursue Shearer’s all-time Premier League scoring record. Since making his debut for Spurs in 2012, Kane has scored 213 goals in the top flight. However, with the opportunity to join Bayern Munich and compete for major trophies, Kane is now ready to leave his comfort zone.
Earlier in the summer, Manchester United showed interest in signing Kane. However, they opted for less expensive alternatives to stay within their transfer budget.
During Tottenham’s recent friendly victory over Shakhtar Donetsk, the supporters chanted “we want you to stay” in an attempt to convince Kane to remain at the club. But it seems that the allure of Bayern Munich and the chance to win trophies has swayed the striker’s decision.
As the deal nears completion, Kane’s transfer to Bayern Munich will undoubtedly shake up the Premier League. His departure from Tottenham will leave a void in their attack, and it remains to be seen how they will fill that gap.
