Tottenham’s £50m Deadline Day Bid for Premier League Striker
Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly preparing a £50 million bid for Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke in the final 48 hours of the transfer window. Solanke, who is valued at around £50 million, has been in exceptional form this season, scoring 12 goals for the Cherries.
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola is understandably desperate to keep hold of Solanke, but the club is not in a position to reject bids of this magnitude for the former Liverpool player. Tottenham, on the other hand, is the only member of the Premier League’s top six clubs that still has room to maneuver within the Profit and Sustainability ruling.
Tottenham’s interest in Solanke comes as no surprise, as manager Ange Postecoglou decided against spending the £100 million received from Harry Kane’s departure on a striker last summer. Instead, the club brought in Brennan Johnson in a £45 million deal. However, Postecoglou has been promised funds moving forward and reportedly wants to invest in Solanke.
Iraola himself admitted at the start of the transfer window that there is no guarantee Solanke will stay at Bournemouth. He stated, “Dom (Solanke), Lloyd Kelly, they are some of our best players for sure. But you never know what’s going to happen every time the window is open. Of course, I want to keep our best players. If we are talking about these players, there is no doubt that they are playing really well. We’ll see what happens.”
It remains to be seen whether Bournemouth will be able to hold onto their star striker or if Tottenham’s bid will be successful. The final 48 hours of the transfer window are always full of surprises, and fans will be eagerly awaiting updates on this potential move.
