Newcastle United stunned Tottenham Hotspur with a blistering start to their Premier League clash at St. James’ Park on Sunday afternoon. The Magpies raced into a two-goal lead within the first six minutes of the game, thanks to some horrific defending from Spurs. Jacob Murphy opened the scoring just 61 seconds into the match, before Joelinton doubled the lead five minutes later. Murphy then scored a third in jaw-dropping fashion, leaving Hugo Lloris ball-watching. Alexander Isak made it four for Newcastle, with former Arsenal star Joe Willock providing a fantastic pass with the outside of his boot. The Sweden international grabbed his first of the match before doubling his tally just seconds later in one of the most incredible Premier League matches in recent history.
Spurs, who are in desperate need of three points to launch a late assault on the top-four of the Premier League, now look to have put any hope of Champions League football to bed. It was an astonishing start to the match, where interim manager Cristian Stellini went brave with a back-four, a change from the back-three that Spurs have been used to all year under Antonio Conte. However, it backfired spectacularly with Pedro Porro, Ivan Perisic and Eric Dier all guilty of poor defending. More updates on this breaking news will follow.
