Tottenham have registered their interest in signing Manchester United midfielder Jadon Sancho, with Erik ten Hag open to selling the winger. United signed the England international for £72m in 2021, following a two-year pursuit of the former Manchester City ace. However, Sancho’s move to Old Trafford hasn’t gone to plan and he managed just ten goals and assists across all competitions last season. Sancho was given time off over the World Cup – when he was not selected by England – to embark on a physical training programme to boost his fitness and mental health. Though Sancho’s performances did improve, they didn’t progress to the level that Ten Hag wants.
Tottenham are targeting attacking recruitments this summer following the appointment of Ange Postecoglou. Ten Hag has been given a modest budget of around £120m this summer and he must offload some players in order to top up his kitty, which he wants to use on a goalkeeper, central midfielder and centre forward. He’s therefore open to allowing Sancho to leave the club and the Times say Tottenham have registered their interest in the winger. With United keen on signing Harry Kane, it’s unlikely the Red Devils would be kind in negotiations without Tottenham displaying the same generosity. Spurs are also said to be keen on signing Harry Maguire.
