Tottenham Lose to Newcastle: Analysis

Date:

Match of the Day 2 pundits Troy Deeney and Jermaine Beckford have discussed Tottenham’s poor performance in their 6-1 defeat at Newcastle United. The two former Premier League strikers were in agreement that it was a ‘humiliation’ for Spurs and that they had been outplayed in all areas of the pitch. Deeney said: “It was a complete capitulation from Spurs. They were outfought, outrun and outplayed in every area of the pitch.” Beckford added: “It was a really poor performance from Tottenham and it’s not something you expect to see from a team of their quality. It was a humiliation for them and they will need to bounce back quickly.” The result leaves Tottenham in danger of missing out on a Champions League spot, with the two pundits agreeing that they must now focus on getting the job done in their remaining games.
