Reports suggest that Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly is interested in signing Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid on a permanent deal in the summer. This news comes as a relief to Atletico, who were concerned that Chelsea would not make Felix’s loan permanent. It is believed that Atletico manager Diego Simeone does not see Felix as part of his plans for next season and the club is looking to offload him. Spanish outlet Relevo has reported that Boehly is keen to keep Felix and may consider a swap deal involving some players to bring down Atletico’s £70.5m asking price. Chelsea paid £16m to bring Felix to Stamford Bridge in January on loan for the remainder of the season, but the Portugal international has only shown flashes of promise during his time in the Premier League. Felix has started Chelsea’s last two games on the bench and was brought on as a second-half substitute in the 2-1 defeat to Brighton last Saturday and the 2-0 loss at home to Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday evening. Other options for Felix include Newcastle United and Manchester United, both of whom have previously shown an interest in the 23-year-old forward. Felix has made 15 appearances for Chelsea, scoring two goals for the west London club.
