Liverpool Make Khephren Thuram a Priority Target
Liverpool are reportedly making OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram a “priority” target as they look to add to their midfield options this summer. The Reds have already completed the £35 million signing of Alexis Mac Allister, and are now looking to add further depth to their squad.
Thuram has emerged as a viable candidate, with contacts between the two clubs “multiplying” in recent weeks. The player himself is said to be “seduced” by the potential of joining the Reds, and is open to the idea of leaving Nice despite his attachment to the club.
Who is Khephren Thuram?
Khephren Thuram is a dynamic, all-round midfielder who joined Nice from AS Monaco in 2019. He has gone on to play 138 times for the club as well as debuting for the France national team.
The 21-year-old is currently on duty with the France under-21s at the U21 Euros in Romania and Georgia, with three group games to come between June 22 and 28. If France progress into the quarter-finals their next game would be on July 1/2, with the semi-finals held on July 5 and the final on July 8.
Will Liverpool Secure a Deal for Thuram?
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will be able to secure a deal for Thuram this summer. Nice are likely to play hardball when it comes to their No. 19, with previous reports describing initial meetings with the Ligue 1 side as “negative.”
Jurgen Klopp has admitted his preference to bring in players as early as possible back in May, but also understanding that this may not be possible. Any deal for Thuram may need to wait until later in the summer, either way, with the midfielder currently on duty with the France under-21s.
