Thomas Tuchel Rules Himself Out of Manchester United Manager’s Job
In the ongoing speculation surrounding the future of the Manchester United manager’s position, Thomas Tuchel has made it clear that he is not interested in taking on the role. Tuchel, who has previously coached Bayern Munich and Chelsea, was rumored to be one of the names under consideration by United if they decide to replace Erik ten Hag.
The post-season review at United is still ongoing, and Ten Hag is still waiting to find out if he will be given a third season in charge at Old Trafford. While Tuchel has reportedly met with United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe in France, he has expressed his desire to take a break from coaching following his departure from Bayern at the end of last season.
With Tuchel out of the running, United will need to look elsewhere for potential candidates. Mauricio Pochettino, former manager of Chelsea and Tottenham, is one name that has been linked with the job. Another option could be Thomas Frank, the current manager of Brentford, or Graham Potter.
Another intriguing possibility is England boss Gareth Southgate. Southgate has been heavily linked with the United job and was even seen attending Sir Dave Brailsford’s 60th birthday celebrations earlier this year. However, there are obstacles to overcome if Southgate were to take on the role. United’s first pre-season friendly is scheduled for the day after the Euro 2024 final, and Southgate has a contract with the Football Association that runs until the end of the year.
The search for a new manager at Manchester United continues, with Tuchel now out of contention. As the club weighs its options, fans eagerly await news of who will be tasked with leading the team forward in the coming seasons.
