Brentford Confirm Bryan Mbeumo Fit for Tottenham Clash
Brentford manager Thomas Frank has confirmed that Bryan Mbeumo is fit and ready to start the game against Tottenham this Sunday. The Cameroon international was a doubt after suffering a dead leg in Brentford’s final pre-season game against Lille, but Frank has confirmed that he has recovered and will be involved.
The Bees get their Premier League campaign underway on Sunday against Spurs at the Gtech Community Stadium and there was also positive news for the trio of Rico Henry, Christian Norgaard and Josh Dasilva, all of whom are fit and in contention to play in the London derby. Brentford fans will also be looking forward to seeing new signings Mark Flekken, Nathan Collins and Kavin Schade in action for the first time in a competitive fixture.
After a strong finish to the last Premier League campaign, which saw Brentford win their final three league games, it has been an underwhelming summer in terms of results as the Bees haven’t won a single friendly. Three draws and two defeats have come from their five friendlies, but that will be of no consequence if they can perform and get a good result against Spurs on Sunday.
There will be more pressure on the likes of Mbeumo to perform this season as Ivan Toney has been banned until January for a string of betting offences. On the situation, Frank said: ‘The players that will step in for Ivan, played the last four games without him. I have big confidence that [Yoane] Wissa, Kevin Schade, and Bryan Mbuemo could step in and score goals. I also want other players to step up and score goals.’
Brentford will be looking to make an impact in their first season back in the Premier League and they will need to be at their best if they are to get a result against Tottenham. With Mbeumo fit and ready to go, they have a great chance of getting off to a good start.
It promises to be an exciting game this Sunday as Brentford take on Tottenham for the first time in the Premier League. With Mbeumo fit and ready to go, the Bees have a great chance of getting off to a good start and making an impact in their first season back in the top flight.
