Theo Walcott has bid an emotional farewell to Southampton in a social media post. The forward, who began his career with the Saints at the age of 16 before moving to Arsenal, returned to St Mary’s on loan in October 2020 after a stint at Everton. However, the 34-year-old will now leave his boyhood club for a second time, but has no plans to retire. Walcott thanked everyone at Southampton FC, calling it a fantastic club with incredible people. He expressed disappointment that the team was unable to stay in the Premier League this season but is certain they will return soon. Walcott scored two goals this term and made 81 appearances across his two spells at St Mary’s, scoring 10 goals. He earned 47 England caps during his career and spent most of his club career at Arsenal, scoring 108 goals and laying on 80 assists in 397 outings for the Gunners.
