Marcus Rashford is having the best goal-scoring season of his career, having scored 30 goals in all competitions so far. Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag believes there is still room for improvement and that he could score 40 goals in a campaign. Ten Hag is pleased with Rashford’s performance this season, especially after a disastrous season last time around which saw him score just five times. The Red Devils have their final Premier League game of the season against Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday, followed by the FA Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley the following week, so Rashford can add still further to his impressive tally.
Ten Hag believes that there is more to come from the England forward and that he is capable of scoring 40 goals in the season. ‘With Marcus, there’s a lot of room for improvement in his game and I’m convinced he could score even more,’ said the Manchester United boss. ‘I think when you take for instance the last ten games he didn’t score so many goals, I think only two or three. We supported him where we could with the way of play, but also in his mental mindset, so we are happy with that but yeah, we have to push for more.’
Rashford is going into the last year of his contract with Manchester United, but Ten Hag is relaxed about the situation, expecting the forward to sign a new deal. ‘I expect Marcus Rashford to renew,’ the Dutchman told Viaplay. ‘He wants it. Manchester United wants it. He is a child of this club, so I assume this will happen.’
