Man United Faces Injury Crisis Ahead of Liverpool Clash
Manchester United will be without at least 10 senior players for their upcoming match against Liverpool. This comes after their disappointing exit from the Champions League, where they finished last in their group. The pressure is mounting on manager Erik ten Hag, who has overseen more league losses than the current top three teams combined.
Adding to their woes, United will also be without captain Bruno Fernandes due to suspension. However, there is some good news as Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford have been declared fit to play.
Unfortunately, Harry Maguire joins a long list of absentees, which includes Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez, Mason Mount, Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia, Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho, and Amad Diallo. Victor Lindelof remains a doubt despite training before their recent defeat to Bayern.
Liverpool also has their share of injury concerns with Diogo Jota, Alexis Mac Allister, Andy Robertson, Joel Matip, Thiago, and Stefan Bajcetic all unavailable for the match.
Ten Hag will have to field a significantly depleted side against Liverpool. The possible lineup could see Shaw or Jonny Evans partnering Raphael Varane at center-back, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka or Sergio Reguilon filling in at full-back. Scott McTominay may be pushed into the No. 10 role in the absence of Fernandes, while 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo could partner Sofyan Amrabat in midfield. Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund could lead the attack with Antony and Alejandro Garnacho on the wings.
It remains to be seen how United will cope with their injury crisis and if they can put up a strong performance against Liverpool.
