Tom Grennan: “United are in a good place and I’m sure they will give it their all, but I think City will have too much for them. They have been the best team in the country this season and I can’t see them slipping up now. It’s going to be a great game though and I’m really looking forward to it.”
The 142nd FA Cup final is the first to be an all-Manchester affair, with Manchester City and Manchester United set to face off at Wembley this weekend. BBC Sport’s football expert Chris Sutton, Manchester City supporter Noel Gallagher, and Manchester United fan Tom Grennan have all weighed in with their predictions.
Newly-crowned Premier League champions City are also in next week’s Champions League final and Saturday sees them try to take another step towards the Treble – a feat only United have managed before, in 1999. Gallagher believes that if City can beat United in the FA Cup final, their Treble would top United’s. Meanwhile, Grennan is looking forward to seeing what Erik ten Hag does in the transfer market next season, but believes that City will have too much for United this weekend.
Sutton predicts that City, with their superior players, will win the match. He believes that Pep Guardiola won’t be thinking about the Champions League final and will go as strong as he can. He also believes that the game will be life and death for both teams.
The result of the match will be decided after 90 minutes of play; if the score is level after 90 minutes, extra time and penalties will decide the winner. The match will be broadcast live on BBC One, BBC Radio 5 live and the BBC Sport website.
