Support LFC Foundation’s Kip on the Kop: Swap Your Bed for a Sleeping Bag to Tackle Homelessness

Date:

LFC Foundation is once again organizing the ‘Kip on the Kop’ event, a unique fundraising challenge aimed at raising awareness and funds for the thousands of people who sleep rough across the UK. While the event doesn’t replicate the experience of sleeping rough, it provides participants with a glimpse into the challenges faced by those who are forced to sleep on the streets.

Last year, the LFC Foundation successfully launched the Kip on the Kop event and raised over £65,000 to combat homelessness in the Liverpool City Region. This year’s event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 12, and registration is currently open for those who want to participate.

The funds raised from the event will go towards supporting the LFC Foundation’s Global Works program, which offers sport-based employability sessions and mentoring for young people who have experienced homelessness. Additionally, the funds will also benefit Liverpool Homeless FC, an organization that runs an annual 5-a-side football league for people affected by homelessness in the region.

The league currently consists of 22 teams from various homelessness organizations across Merseyside. The focus of the league is on inclusion, fun, and providing opportunities for individuals to move their lives forward. By participating in the Kip on the Kop event, supporters can contribute to these initiatives and make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals in the Liverpool City Region.

Matt Parish, CEO of LFC Foundation, expressed his optimism for this year’s event, stating that he hopes to see even more people come together to raise funds and awareness for tackling homelessness. He emphasized the unique opportunity that the event provides for participants and its potential to make a significant impact in the community.

John Finnigan, CEO of Liverpool Homeless FC, echoed Parish’s sentiments, highlighting the success of last year’s event and the importance of raising funds and awareness for their ongoing work. The funds raised from last year’s event allowed the organization to expand the number of teams in the league, enabling them to support even more individuals affected by homelessness.

To register for the Kip on the Kop event, participants can visit the official website. It is important to note that participants must be aged 16 and over, and those under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

By taking part in the Kip on the Kop event, supporters not only have the opportunity to spend a night on the iconic Kop at Anfield but also contribute to a worthy cause. It is a chance to experience a small taste of the challenges faced by those who sleep rough, while also actively supporting efforts to combat homelessness and improve the lives of vulnerable individuals in the Liverpool City Region.
