Evan Ferguson Signs New Six-Year Deal with Brighton
Brighton & Hove Albion has secured Evan Ferguson’s future at the club by signing him to a new six-year contract. This move comes just six months after his previous contract extension, as the Seagulls aim to ward off interest from top clubs like Manchester United.
Ferguson, who is only 19 years old, has shown significant progress under the guidance of manager Roberto De Zerbi. He made it clear during the summer that he had no intentions of leaving The Amex.
The new contract, which now runs until 2029, is a year longer than his previous deal signed in April. In addition to the extension, Ferguson will receive a substantial wage increase, surpassing his previous salary of £20,000 per week.
Brighton’s Valuation and Technical Director’s Statement
Although the new contract does not include a release clause, Brighton now values Ferguson at a staggering £100 million. David Weir, the Seagulls’ technical director, expressed his delight at securing Ferguson’s future and praised his talent and progress at both club and international level. Weir looks forward to witnessing Ferguson’s continued growth.
Continued Success and New Contract Signings
Ferguson’s outstanding performance this season, including a hat-trick against Newcastle, has earned him five Premier League goals. His contract renewal follows fellow star Kaoru Mitoma’s decision to sign a new deal this season. Manager Roberto De Zerbi believes Ferguson has a bright future ahead of him.
The young striker joined Brighton from Irish side Bohemians in January 2021, rejecting an offer from Liverpool in favor of a move to Sussex.
