Steve Cooper, manager of Nottingham Forest, has expressed his disappointment after his team lost 2-1 to Leeds United at Elland Road. Cooper believes that Forest only have themselves to blame for the defeat, as they had been leading 1-0 before conceding two goals in quick succession.
The match began with Forest taking the lead in the first half, courtesy of a goal from Joe Lolley. However, Leeds responded strongly and equalised shortly afterwards through a goal from Ezgjan Alioski. The home side then completed the turnaround with a goal from Stuart Dallas in the second half, giving them a vital win in the battle against relegation.
Cooper was frustrated with his team’s performance and felt that they had not done enough to secure the victory. He said: “We had a good start and got ourselves in front, but we didn’t manage the game well enough after that. We allowed Leeds to come back into it and they took their chances well.”
The result leaves Forest in a precarious position in the league table, with just two points separating them from the relegation zone. Cooper is now hoping that his team can use this defeat as a learning experience and put in a better performance in their next game. He said: “We have to take this on the chin and use it as motivation to do better in our next game.”
Fans of both teams can watch highlights of the match on Match of the Day on Wednesday 5 April at 22:40 BST on BBC One, BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport app. The show is only available to UK users.
