Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara has compared Ryan Mason’s appointment as caretaker manager to a new driver being given a Formula 1 car. O’Hara was speaking after Spurs’ 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa, which dealt a blow to the club’s hopes of European football. Tottenham are now five points from the Europa League and nine from the Champions League, with even the Conference League looking in doubt. O’Hara criticised the decision makers at Spurs, saying they “don’t even know what they’re doing” and should have pursued former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann.
