Spurs players back Kane Real Madrid move

Date:

Tottenham players would reportedly be ‘happy’ to see Harry Kane join Real Madrid this summer, according to Pedro Porro. Kane’s future is set to dominate the headlines this summer with the England captain heavily linked with a move away from his boyhood club. With Spurs no closer to winning silverware and out of European football next season, many believe the 29-year-old has had enough and though chairman Daniel Levy wants him to stay, this summer will be the last chance to cash in on the striker whose contract expires in 2024.

Manchester United would be the player’s preferred destination as he wants to stay in the Premier League and beat Alan Shearer’s goal record. Erik ten Hag is a huge admirer and desperate to sign at least one No.9, but Levy is incredibly reluctant to sell his talisman to a rival club. He may well be willing to sell to Real however, who have identified Kane as the ideal replacement for Karim Benzema who is leaving for Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad.

Porro, who only moved from Sporting Lisbon to Spurs in January, told reporters, as quoted by the Daily Mail: ‘If Kane decides to go to Real Madrid we’ll be as happy as he is or more.’ This goes against what other Spurs stars have said about the transfer, with Emerson Royal saying last week: ‘I want to play with him for a long time!’ Kane’s future may well also depend on what vision new Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has for the club. There have already been rumours that the former Celtic manager wants to sign United captain Harry Maguire, and there has been some suggestion that the Red Devils could offer the defender in part exchange for the striker.

Despite the Lilywhites’ woes, Kane scored 32 goals across all competitions in 2022/23 to become the club’s all-time top goalscorer and also became England’s top goalscorer after surpassing Wayne Rooney’s record back in March. With speculation surrounding his future set to continue, it remains to be seen whether or not Kane will stay at Tottenham or move on this summer.
