# Tottenham Hotspur Boss Ange Postecoglou Praises Team’s “Sheer Hard Work” and “Character” After Narrow Win
Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has praised his team’s “sheer hard work” and “character” following their 1-0 win over Luton which lifts them to top of the Premier League.
The win was a hard-fought one, with Spurs having to play the majority of the match with 10 men after defender Toby Alderweireld was sent off in the first half. Despite this, they managed to hold on for the win and move to the top of the table.
Postecoglou was full of praise for his team’s performance, saying: “It was a great effort from the boys today. We had to dig deep and show a lot of character to come away with the win. The sheer hard work and determination they showed was fantastic.”
The Spurs boss also praised his side’s defensive display, saying: “We had to defend for long periods of the game and I thought we did that really well. We kept our shape and stayed compact, which made it difficult for Luton to create chances.”
The win was a welcome one for Spurs, who had been struggling for form in recent weeks. Postecoglou believes that this win will give his team a much-needed boost: “This win will give us a huge confidence boost going into our next game. We know that if we can put in performances like this, then we can get results against any team in the league.”
The victory also means that Spurs are now top of the Premier League table, although they have played a game more than their rivals. Postecoglou is aware that there is still a long way to go in the season, but he is confident that his team can stay at the top: “We know that there is still a lot of work to do if we want to stay at the top of the table, but I’m confident that if we keep playing with this level of commitment and determination, then we can do it.”
