Special auction will see iconic photos of Lionel Messi, Premier League heroes like Thierry Henry and World Cup legends Pele and Diego Maradona available to fans

    Football fans are being given the chance to get their hands on some of the game’s most iconic photographs with 170 items being auctioned off on November 8.

    Taking place prior to the World Cup in Qatar, the pictures – which have been taken from deep within the archives of French publication L’Equipe – are being made available for purchase.

    Fans can make bids on the collection, which has been entitled ‘For Eternity’, with French auction house Millon.

    Iconic photos such as the late Diego Maradona‘s ‘Hand of God’ goal against England at the World Cup in 1986 is up for grabs.

    And that has been estimated to fetch up to £1,300 when bidding begins.

    It is the same price as an image of France lifting the World Cup trophy in 2018, along with the United States women’s team hoisting aloft the World Cup trophy the following year.

    Also costing upwards of £1,300 are snaps from Brazil’s triumph at the World Cup in France in 1998, along with Lionel Messi‘s sumptuous chip over Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer at the Nou Camp in 2015.

    Supporters can also get their hands on pictures of their favourite footballers from over the years, with some photos available in black and white.

    Arsenal icon Thierry Henry is included in the lot, along with Manchester United legends George Best, Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo.

    Three-time World Cup winner Pele also has a number of photos in the collection, with English greats Bobby Charlton, Stanley Matthews and Kevin Keegan also included.

    Other footballing heroes to make the collection are Johan Cruyff, Franz Beckenbauer, French duo Michel Platini and Zinedine Zidane, Brazilian pair Ronaldo and Ronaldinho as well as Chelsea great Didier Drogba.

    The buyers of the pictures will become the sole owners of the photo they have purchased.

    And each purchase will be delivered with its certificate of authenticity in a custom hand-made frame.

    It’s not just Maradona’s ‘Hand of God’ picture that is up for sale… with the actual ball he punched being auctioned off.

    The ball is expected to cost in the region of a cool £3million with the referee from the game Ali Bin Nasser cashing in on the item, after keeping hold it for 36 years.
