Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has aimed a dig in the direction of Emiliano Martinez following his World Cup final penalty antics.
With the scores tied at 3-3 after extra-time, the clash went to penalties, and Argentina were crowned world champions with a 4-2 win on spot-kicks.
However, Martinez has since received flak for the way he tried to put off Les Bleus’ penalty takers, which ultimately prevented France from winning back-to-back trophies.
As Aurelien Tchouameni walked towards the penalty spot, the Aston Villa goalkeeper threw the ball away, and the Real Madrid midfielder later missed.
Martinez also danced after Kingsley Coman’s effort was saved by the 30-year-old, with his antics annoying many.
Lloris, who became his country’s all-time leading-appearance maker out in Qatar with 145 caps, announced his international retirement on Monday, and could not resist from taking a pop at Martinez.
He told L’Equipe: “There are some things I can’t do.

“Making a fool of myself in goal, rattling my opponent and crossing the line… I just can’t do that.
“I’m too rational and honest a man to go that way. I don’t know how to win like that, although I didn’t really want to lose like that either.“
Martinez received further criticism for the way he celebrated winning his Golden Glove prize during the trophy ceremony.
The ex-Arsenal man made a lewd gesture, and claimed he did so for the way France fans booed him throughout the contest.
Martinez later mocked Kylian Mbappe, who netted a hat-trick past him in the final, during an open top bus parade in Buenos Aires, holding up a toy doll with the Paris Saint-Germain superstar’s face on it.
Lloris added: “He [Martinez] was instrumental. Concerning his celebrations, he has been judged enough for that, no need to add anything more.
“During the shoot-out, he used every trick in the books to destabilise us.”
