Sol Campbell slams Jorginho for ‘getting in a muddle’ during north London derby

Sol Campbell aimed a dig at Arsenal star Jorginho after the Gunners were held to a 2-2 draw in Sunday’s north London derby against Tottenham.

The Italy international midfielder was brought on at half-time after Declan Rice was forced off with a suspected left calf injury.

The score was locked at 1-1 when he entered the pitch, with the Gunners taking the lead after Cristian Romero’s own goal before before Son Heung-min levelled it up heading into the break.

Arsenal regained the lead via Bukayo Saka’s second-half penalty but just one minute later, Jorginho made a huge error.

Jorginho’s Error Costs Arsenal

The 31-year-old dallied on the ball and was dispossessed by James Maddison, who rolled the ball to Son for a simple finish past Arsenal’s David Raya.

Former defender Campbell, who played for both Arsenal and Spurs, was critical of Jorginho in his post-match analysis for Premier League Productions.

‘He’s not playing his game,’ Campbell said about Jorginho’s error which led to Tottenham’s second goal of the afternoon.

‘He’s usually getting the ball and moving it quickly, that is his game. He had a chance to pass to Ben White out wide. He was scanning and scanning, and he just got in a muddle and they nicked the ball from him.

‘So many goals are scored in the first five minutes after your opponents score. You have to be aware.’

Arsenal Fans React to Jorginho’s Performance

Jorginho has come under fire from Arsenal fans for his performance in the north London derby. Many have called for him to be dropped from the starting line-up in favour of other midfielders such as Granit Xhaka or Dani Ceballos.

Others have criticised Jorginho for not being able to keep up with the pace of the game, and for not being able to make an impact when he is on the pitch.

It remains to be seen whether or not Jorginho will be given another chance to prove himself in the starting line-up, or if he will be relegated to the bench for Arsenal’s next match.

Conclusion

Sol Campbell’s criticism of Jorginho is sure to have resonated with Arsenal fans, who have been left frustrated by the midfielder’s lacklustre performances this season. It remains to be seen whether or not Jorginho will be given another chance to prove himself in the starting line-up, or if he will be relegated to the bench for Arsenal’s next match.
