Liverpool is a city well-known for its independent attitude, and this is reflected in the thriving independent businesses that are located there. Vista, a partner of Liverpool FC, has launched an initiative to celebrate small businesses called ‘small business of the match’. This initiative rewards small business owners with a matchday experience at Anfield, where they meet club legends and have their businesses advertised around the pitch.
Anthony Grice, owner of Fika Coffee, was one of the recipients of this award and described his experience as “fantastic”. He was hosted in the hospitality lounge and was blown away that a worldwide brand like Vista was associated with his small coffee shop. Ste Gaynor from Boardwalk Barbers was another recipient of the experience and said it was one of the most emotional moments seeing his business lit up at Anfield during a match. He also noted that the advertising had a positive effect on the promotion of his business, as well as an increase in downloads for his appointment app.
Scouse Girl Timber, which makes bespoke handmade furniture, was also supported by Vista. Dan, the owner, said she couldn’t believe she was chosen out of all the amazing businesses in the city. She loves being a woman doing a job she adores in a city that only wishes to see her succeed.
Connect Studios, a performing arts school in Seaforth, was another business that benefited from the initiative. Owners Kelly and Michael said it made one business and one little boy happy, and that two of their members had a fun experience that created memories that will last a lifetime.
Vista’s ‘small business of the match’ initiative is having a huge impact on local businesses in Liverpool. It is providing them with much-needed recognition and awareness, as well as giving them a unique matchday experience. It is clear to see just how special this acknowledgement truly is for these small businesses.
