Sir Jim Ratcliffe Faces Challenge in Offloading Manchester United Midfielder Casemiro

Manchester United is eager to sell Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, who has struggled with both form and fitness this season. However, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is taking over football operations at Old Trafford, is facing difficulties in offloading the player. Ratcliffe has been made aware of Casemiro’s £350,000-a-week salary and the fact that he still has two-and-a-half years left on his contract. This has deterred potential buyers, as there are not many clubs willing to pay such a high salary for a 32-year-old player with injury concerns.

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, is looking to strengthen his squad in the current January transfer window. However, the club needs to generate funds through player sales in order to boost their transfer budget. Casemiro has been tempted by a lucrative offer to move to Saudi Arabia, while Paris Saint-Germain has also shown interest in the 31-year-old.

Casemiro recently returned to full training ahead of United’s FA Cup third-round clash against Wigan Athletic. Despite his struggles this season, the midfielder has made 63 appearances for the Red Devils since joining from Real Madrid, contributing 11 goals and seven assists.

In a recent development, Jamie Carragher criticized Ten Hag’s decision to sign Casemiro in 2022, labeling it as “terrible.” This adds to the challenges faced by Ratcliffe in offloading the midfielder.

Overall, the high salary and injury concerns surrounding Casemiro have made it difficult for Sir Jim Ratcliffe to find a buyer for the Manchester United midfielder. The club will need to explore other options to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window.
