Tributes Pour In For England and Manchester United Legend Sir Bobby Charlton
The football world is mourning the loss of Sir Bobby Charlton, who has died at the age of 86. The Manchester United and England great was a World Cup winner, and has been remembered as a true legend of the game.
A Footballing Great
Sir Bobby Charlton was an integral part of England’s 1966 World Cup winning campaign, winning 106 caps and scoring 49 times for the Three Lions. He was also a key part of Manchester United’s success, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the game.
Tributes have been pouring in from all corners of the football world, with Gary Lineker labelling him ‘England’s greatest ever player’, and former United captain Gary Neville calling him the club’s ‘greatest ambassador’.
Former England team-mate Sir Geoff Hurst said: ‘We will never forget him nor will all of football. A great colleague [and] friend, he will be sorely missed by all of the country beyond sport alone.’
