Despite high confidence in Postecoglou’s arrival, the Australian tactician only lasts one term at Tottenham in the video game. Harry Kane stays on, but Spurs fail to finish in the top four or end their trophyless streak, which has now extended to 16 years. Manchester City retain the Premier League title, while Chelsea finish runners-up under new manager Mauricio Pochettino. Postecoglou finishes sixth with 17 wins and eight losses in 38 matches. He signs Pedro Porro on a permanent deal for £36.5m from Sporting Lisbon, and Dejan Kulusevski, Milan Skriniar, and Stefan de Vrij also join the club. Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Unai Simon replaces Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris between the sticks after a £64m deal. In January, Postecoglou reunites with Celtic right-back Alistair Johnston and signs Porto star Mehdi Taremi for £38.5m, rising to £46m. Son Heung-min becomes Tottenham’s top Premier League scorer with 15 goals, followed by Kane with 12 goals. Postecoglou is sacked a few days after the end of the season and is replaced by AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli.
