Simone Inzaghi’s Choice for Liverpool Manager Role: Decision on Replacing Jurgen Klopp
Liverpool’s search for a successor to Jurgen Klopp has led them to consider Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi. However, it seems that the Italian manager is committed to his current club and would reject any advances from the Merseyside giants. Inzaghi has been at the helm of Inter Milan since 2021 and has achieved great success during his tenure.
Under Inzaghi’s guidance, Inter Milan has won two Coppa Italia titles and three Supercoppa Italiana titles. Last season, he led the club to their first Champions League final in over a decade. This season, Inter Milan is dominating the Serie A, sitting 15 points clear at the top of the table after finishing 18 points adrift of last season’s champions Napoli.
Inzaghi’s impressive work at San Siro has caught the attention of Liverpool, who have placed him on their shortlist of possible replacements for Klopp. Other names on the list include Xabi Alonso, Roberto De Zerbi, and Ruben Amorim. However, according to Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inzaghi has no intention of leaving Inter Milan and would reject Liverpool’s offer.
The report suggests that Inzaghi intends to sign a contract extension with Inter Milan due to both personal and sporting reasons. Talks of a possible extension are already underway, with Inter’s hierarchy keen to tie their manager down for a further three years until 2027.
Inzaghi himself has spoken about his happiness at Inter Milan and the good relationship he has with the board and fans. He revealed that talks of a contract extension will take place after this season, but he is optimistic about the outcome.
While Inzaghi may not be available, Liverpool’s number one target remains Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso. However, it seems that Bayern Munich has pulled ahead in the race to secure Alonso’s services. Leverkusen currently holds a ten-point lead over Bayern at the top of the Bundesliga table and remains unbeaten in the German top flight.
According to Sky Germany, it would take a fee of £21 million to convince Leverkusen to let go of Alonso this summer. This price tag is more than double what Liverpool paid for him as a player back in 2004.
As Liverpool continues their search for Klopp’s successor, it remains to be seen who will ultimately take charge of the club. The decision will undoubtedly have a significant impact on Liverpool’s future success.
