Sheikh Jassim is reportedly keen to make Neymar a marquee signing for Manchester United this summer, should his takeover bid be successful. The Brazilian forward, who joined Paris Saint-Germain in a €222 million (£200m) deal from Barcelona in 2017, is currently sidelined due to an ankle injury and will miss the remainder of the season after he had surgery last month. Reports on Saturday evening claimed that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s bid, which is in excess of £5 billion, is viewed by the Glazers as a more attractive proposal. However, The Sun reports that Sheikh Jassim has already drawn up a list of transfer targets if his United takeover is successful and the signing of Neymar would be his priority.
Meanwhile, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made it clear that he wants the club to focus on signing a new striker in the summer window. He stated that they have had a shortage of No.9s throughout the season due to the dropout of Ronaldo, Anthony Martial’s unavailability and Jadon Sancho’s absence. He added that they need some offensive players who are impact players and quality players who can improve the frontline.
