Shakira was seen appearing to cry at the M&M store in New York after her first live performance of her diss track aimed at her ex, Gerard Pique. The Colombian popstar’s hit song contains numerous references to Pique following their bitter split. The 46-year-old singer belted out her diss track Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53 in a racy leather outfit on The Tonight Show last Friday. Since her performance on the show in New York, the singing sensation has been spending time in the city. However, while she was all smiles as she sang her new song, she was this week spotted appearing to cry as she chatted to a woman at the M&M store.
Shakira, wearing a baseball cap and a black top, took her sons, Milan and Sasha, who she shares with ex Pique, to the M&M stores in Times Square. While her sons eyed up the vast chocolate offerings, Shakira’s mood seemed not so sweet as she covered her face. She appeared to cry and look shocked as she spoke to an unidentified woman in the store.
Speaking to Jimmy Fallon on Friday night’s show, Shakira said she had to “put up with so much c**p” and had used her new diss track as “a healthy way to channel my emotions”. She and former Barcelona star Pique, 36, called time on their 11-year romance last June before he went official with new girlfriend Clara Chia.
In her new song, Shakira takes swipes at Clara, who Pique was rumoured to have started dating before they split. Shakira makes it crystal clear she is referring to Clara with the lyrics: “I’m worth two 22’s. You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo. You traded a Rolex for a Casio.” In another line, she takes a brazen hit at her ex, who she was not married to, as she sings “I’m too big for you, that’s why you’re with someone just like you” in the track.
Pique this week broke his silence over the track when asked on Barcelona’s RAC1 radio station if he had heard the song. “Yes, obviously. I don’t want to talk about it,” he replied. Shakira has used her music to fire a series of poisoned darts at retired footballer Pique and his new girlfriend over the last few months.
Most recently, the 46-year-old shared a clip of her singing along to SZA’s hit song Kill Bill on Valentine’s Day as she lip-synced the lyrics “I might kill my ex.” It comes as Adele delivered a stinging message to Pique after seeing his ex Shakira perform on The Tonight Show. The Hello singer, speaking to fans during a show in Las Vegas, cackled as she said: “I saw her performance last night on Jimmy Fallon.”
In conclusion, Shakira has been using her music to express her emotions towards her ex-boyfriend Pique and his new girlfriend Clara Chia. Her latest diss track has multiple references to Pique following their bitter split.
