In 2018, Liverpool supporter Seán Cox was indiscriminately attacked outside Anfield and suffered severe brain injuries as a result. Five years on, he is now learning to walk again with the help of an exoskeleton at Dublin City University. His wife Martina spoke to RTE about the emotional experience of seeing him walk for the first time. Liverpool supporters have played a big part in raising money to support his rehabilitation, nearly €2 million has been raised on the Support Sean Cox GoFundMe page. This money has gone towards therapy as well as making alterations to their home to allow him to recover and live more easily. Mrs Cox also spoke about her husband’s memory not being great and how she has to repeat things for him to understand. Three Roma fans have since been jailed for the assault, although they had already been released from prison by the time Mr Cox came home from rehab.
