Seattle Seahawks Linebacker Jordyn Brooks Activated Off PUP List
RENTON, Wash. — Seattle Seahawks linebacker Jordyn Brooks has passed his physical and will be activated off the physically unable to perform list, the team announced Tuesday.
Brooks, who’s coming off surgery for an ACL tear he suffered on January 1, will now be eligible to practice and take part in walk-throughs once he’s officially off the PUP list.
Impressive Performance by Brooks
Brooks has been a standout player for the Seahawks, leading the team in tackles for the past two seasons. In 2021, he set a franchise record with 184 tackles. The Seahawks drafted Brooks with the 27th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. However, the team did not exercise his $12.722 million fifth-year option, making him an unrestricted free agent next March.
Optimistic Outlook for Week 1
Despite the timing of his ACL tear and the typical recovery timetable for such injuries, Coach Pete Carroll has expressed optimism that Brooks could be ready to play by Week 1. This is a positive sign for the Seahawks, as they rely heavily on Brooks’ contributions to their defense.
Strengthening the Linebacker Corps
During the offseason, the Seahawks made moves to strengthen their inside linebacker corps. They brought back veteran Bobby Wagner and added former Pittsburgh Steelers first-round pick Devin Bush, both on one-year deals. However, Carroll has made it clear that Brooks will remain the centerpiece of their defense once he returns.
Remaining Players on PUP List
While Brooks’ return is a significant development for the Seahawks, they still have three players remaining on the PUP list. Safety Jamal Adams and nose tackles Bryan Mone and Austin Faoliu are still recovering from their respective injuries. The team will continue to monitor their progress and hopes to have them back on the field soon.
Conclusion
The activation of Jordyn Brooks off the PUP list is a positive development for the Seattle Seahawks. Brooks has been a key player for the team, leading them in tackles and setting a franchise record in 2021. Despite his ACL tear, there is optimism that he will be ready to play by Week 1. The Seahawks have made efforts to strengthen their linebacker corps, but Brooks remains the centerpiece of their defense. With other players still on the PUP list, the team is eagerly awaiting their return to full strength.
