Saliba’s Wage Demands Shock Arsenal, Possible Sale to PSG

Arsenal is facing difficulties in securing a new contract with William Saliba, and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is monitoring the situation. The French international has only one year left on his current £40,000-a-week deal, and Arsenal is eager to keep him on a long-term basis. However, negotiations have hit a snag due to Saliba’s representatives’ wage demands. Arsenal is reportedly offering £120k-a-week, but PSG may be willing to pay whatever it takes to lure him to the Parc des Princes. Despite this, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta insists that Saliba is a crucial part of his long-term plans and has no intention of selling him this summer. The club is working hard to reach a compromise agreement and prevent Saliba from leaving as a free agent next year. Arsenal acknowledges that they need to offer him a substantial increase to recognize his importance to the team and plan to put him on an equal footing with other players. Arsenal paid £27million to sign Saliba from Saint-Etienne in 2019, but he has only played one season for the club after spending his first three years on loan back with his old club and then at Nice and Marseille. The club’s medical team has ruled out the need for surgery and hopes he will recover in time for the start of pre-season training in July. Having recently agreed on lengthy new deals with Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale, Saliba’s contract is now top priority for the Emirates hierarchy.
