Mohamed Salah’s Penalty Woes: Is His Status as Liverpool’s Undisputed Penalty Taker at Risk?
Another penalty miss by Mohamed Salah has raised questions about his status as Liverpool’s undisputed penalty taker. In the recent match against Newcastle, Salah had the opportunity to give the Reds a 1-0 lead from the spot in the 22nd minute. However, his effort was read by Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.

This miss adds to Salah’s recent penalty struggles, as he has now missed four out of his last ten penalties. Salah tends to prioritize power over placement when taking penalties, which has proven to be less effective.
Salah’s spot-kick against Newcastle was aimed down the middle of the goal, allowing Dubravka to make the save. The rebound fell to Trent Alexander-Arnold, but he failed to convert his attempt on target and blazed it over.
If Salah had scored, it would have marked his 150th Premier League goal for Liverpool, a significant milestone for the Egyptian forward.
