Sadio Mane was in a cheerful mood post-match as Liverpool celebrated their win over Aston Villa.

The 30-year-old scored the winner in the Premier League game at Villa Park on Tuesday night, after heading Colombian star Luis Diaz’s cross past Emiliano Martinez.

And he was clearly happy with effort as he was visibly distracted by the goal as he and captain Jordan Henderson were being interviewed.

Whilst talking to Henderson, Sky Sports reporter Patrick Davison asked Mane: “You’re just watching your goal back over my shoulder, aren’t you?”

Mane replied: “Yeah, very good goal by the way!”

Mane has been in remarkable form in recent months, and has come back to Liverpool fighting – fresh off the back of his African Cup of Nations triumph in February.

It was very nervy at times, but Liverpool fans can breathe a sigh of relief after the Reds secured a 2-1 victory away which kept their Premier League title hopes alive.

Jurgen Klopp’s side got off to the worse possible start at Villa Park following some calamitous defending at the back.

Lucas Digne whipped in a cross which found Douglas Luiz, who fired home from close range past Alisson Becker.

Liverpool levelled shortly after when Joel Matip stabbed the ball over the line to make it 1-1.

After Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross got caught up in the feet of Tyrone Mings, the ball broke to Virgil van Dijk who fired it back across goal for Matip to score.

Mane later headed the Reds in front mid-way through the second-half following a cross from Colombian star Luis Diaz.

The Senegal international will be aiming to continue his fine form this weekend as the Reds look to get their hands on their second trophy of the season.

Klopp’s side take on Chelsea at Wembley on Saturday in the FA Cup final, the team they beat after winning the Carabao Cup in February.

Mane will also be keen to help his team secure a seventh Champions League trophy, when Liverpool face Real Madrid at the Stade de France on May 28.
