Ryanair send cheeky tweet to Jadon Sancho after his omission from England’s World Cup squad, months after laughing at Manchester United teammate Casemiro

Ryanair have a long history of aiming playful digs at players and Jadon Sancho is in the airline’s sights this time.

The Manchester United forward didn’t make the cut in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man World Cup squad, which was announced on Thursday.

But whilst Sancho wasn’t given a seat on the Three Lions’ plane to the Qatar, he has been given an offer from Ryanair – even if it was probably tongue in cheek.

Just one hour after the England squad was confirmed, Ryanair tweeted the former Borussia Dortmund star, who presumably wasn’t pleased with the recent news.

“We’ll still fly you somewhere,” the airline wrote, adding a kissy face emoji at the end.

Sancho has had a mixed season so far with Man United, falling in and out of manager Erik ten Hag’s starting XI.

The 22-year-old has earned 23 international caps since his senior debut in 2018, and was part of Southgate’s Euro 2020 squad that saw England get to the final on home soil.

However, his inconsistent form has led him to miss out on competing at his first ever World Cup.

It is understood his omission was based purely on his overall performances, but The Telegraph report Sancho’s timekeeping is also an issue, writing he was late for a team meeting when he was in the squad last October for the qualifying win over Andorra.

The report claims it was an ‘issue’ for England’s backroom staff. Southgate’s rule in the national set up is to only start meetings when every player is present, meaning the squad were left waiting for the forward.

Sancho isn’t the only Man United star to have had a joke made at their expense by Ryanair.

The Red Devils’ summer signing Casemiro was also sent a cheeky dig by the airline as he made his move from Real Madrid to Old Trafford.

“An absolute MAD MAN,” they wrote alongside a picture of a boarding pass for a flight from Madrid [MAD] to Manchester [Man] – clearly questioning the star’s decision to leave the European champions.
