Can Jadon Sancho Apologize His Way Back Into Manchester United’s Good Graces?
Jadon Sancho has been banished from the first-team of Manchester United after publicly criticizing manager Erik ten Hag earlier this month. Sancho has reportedly been banned from all the club’s first-team facilities, eating his meals with the club’s academy players and training alone having refused to apologize to ten Hag. The former Borussia Dortmund star’s future at Old Trafford for now looks bleak with no return to the first-team squad in sight.
However, Manchester United legend Roy Keane believes Sancho can still rescue his career with an apology to ten Hag. Speaking on Stick to Football, Keane said he would ‘be ashamed of my life’ to be called out for a lack of effort in training by a manager. He also said that football dressing rooms ‘move on quickly’ once a player begins to show signs of humility.
What Did Roy Keane Say About Jadon Sancho?
Keane said: “I don’t think he is training right. I have no issue with his personality. My annoyance with Sancho would be if he is not training properly. Whatever it is about his personality, we all different. I’d be embarrassed, I’d be ashamed of my life if the manager ever came up to me, or even spoke through the media because you get over that stuff.”
Discussing Sancho’s next move, Keane said: “If you have got questions marks over this player, he is not training properly and he does turn around and show some sort of humility and says maybe I got it wrong, you can move on very quickly. We’ve been in dressing rooms where players have come in and said: ‘Sorry lads I have made a mistake’, it is forgotten about very quickly. Football dressing rooms are a strange dynamic, if a player shows they care and they are human, it’s fine. We move on quickly.”
Can Jadon Sancho Apologize His Way Back Into Manchester United’s Good Graces?
It appears that the only way for Jadon Sancho to make amends with Manchester United is to apologize to Erik ten Hag and show humility. While it may be difficult for Sancho to swallow his pride and apologize, it could be the only way for him to get back into the good graces of the club and get back into the first team squad. Roy Keane has made it clear that football dressing rooms move on quickly once a player shows signs of humility and that could be Sancho’s best chance of getting back into the team.
It remains to be seen what Sancho will do but it appears that apologizing to ten Hag is the only way forward for him if he wants to continue his career at Manchester United. Only time will tell if Sancho takes this advice and apologizes or if he continues to stay away from the first team.
