Roy Keane Expresses Shock at Manchester United’s Poor Away Form Under Erik ten Hag
Manchester United’s former player, Roy Keane, has been left astounded by his old club’s dismal away performances under the management of Erik ten Hag. Keane’s reaction came after viewing a graphic that highlighted United’s poor record on the road.
Manchester United suffered another defeat at St James’ Park, with Anthony Gordon scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win for Newcastle. Since Ten Hag took charge in the summer of 2022, United have lost 11 times away against the current top nine teams in the Premier League.
Out of those 11 matches, they have an abysmal record of 10 defeats and one draw. Notably, this run includes a record-breaking 7-0 humiliation against Liverpool and a shocking 4-0 defeat to Brentford in Ten Hag’s debut game.

Reacting to these shocking statistics, Keane expressed his disbelief, saying, “That doesn’t look real, is that real? The amount of goals, six at City, seven at Liverpool, four at Brentford. It’s not good, they’re obviously in a tough place and the manager is under pressure.”
Keane also addressed the issue with the squad, stating, “There were players that played last night for Manchester United that you’d think would have left the club in the summer, but you’re still going back to the same players that have been getting Man United nowhere fast.”

He added, “What’s the sign of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results? This group’s not going to change, and if they’re not going to work as hard as the opposition, you’re in trouble, and they don’t.”
The last time Manchester United secured an away win against a top nine side was in January 2022, when they defeated Brentford 3-1 under Ralf Rangnick’s management. Unfortunately, their upcoming away trip is back to Anfield on December 17, which doesn’t bode well for their chances of improvement.
