Barcelona’s new signings stole the show in a 6-0 victory over David Beckham and Phil Neville’s Inter Miami in a pre-season clash in America.
While Robert Lewandowski was not yet available – having been announced as a Barca player shortly before the match – Raphinha, Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen all starred for the Catalans.
Raphinha, signed from Leeds, scored and bagged two assists in a first-half rout which included goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Gavi.
Meanwhile, ex-AC Milan star Kessie pulled the strings and former Chelsea defender Christensen kept Gonzalo Higuain quiet, as Inter Miami struggled to keep up with their opponents.
Barca wrung the changes for the second-half but continued their dominance with goals from Gavi, Memphis Depay and Ousmane Dembele.
Meanwhile, Inter Miami boss Neville brought on a couple of familiar names in the dying moments.
The MLS club is co-owned by Beckham – and the England legend’s son Romeo plays for Inter Miami II in the third tier of football in America.
Romeo Beckham, 19, has never played a top-tier match but emerged as a substitute to face Barca.
As did Neville’s son Harvey. The 20-year-old also plays for Inter Miami’s reserves and got a taste of first-team action in the pre-season friendly.
Manager Neville said: “It was a brilliant occasion to play, you could feel the buzz in the air, the supporters.
“We now experienced what a sold out DRV PNK feels like and I think from a playing point of view, the game was always going to be, for us, something to enjoy.
“I thought it was a brilliant learning experience for all involved, I thought that we had to dig in, we had to fight.”
