Celtic Manager Brendan Rodgers Open to Loaning Players to Inverness Caledonian Thistle
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he is open to loaning players to Inverness Caledonian Thistle, the newly appointed club of Duncan Ferguson. Rodgers and Ferguson have a connection from when Ferguson was at Everton, and Rodgers has said that his “phone is there” for Ferguson if he ever needs to reach out.
When asked about the possibility of loaning players to Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Rodgers said that the decision has to be beneficial for the player and for Celtic, and that there must be a strategy behind it. He added that it is important to consider the style of football they will be playing and that for some players it is better to stay at Celtic and work closely with the team instead of being sent out on loan.
Rodgers also mentioned that Celtic have sent some young players to Queen’s Park in the past because they get a good development in football on a brilliant surface, which is part of the education for young players and not just about sending them out on loan.
The connection between Rodgers and Ferguson dates back to when Ferguson was at Everton, and Rodgers was managing Leicester City at the time they faced each other in a match while Ferguson was in temporary charge of Everton. Rodgers said that they exchanged messages recently and that he is always open to helping whatever manager or coach needs it, including Ferguson at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
Inverness Caledonian Thistle are sure to benefit from having a connection with Rodgers and Celtic, as they look to make their mark in the Scottish Premiership this season under the guidance of Duncan Ferguson. With Rodgers’ phone being open to Ferguson, it could be a great opportunity for some of Celtic’s young players to gain experience in a different environment and help Inverness Caledonian Thistle reach their goals this season.
