Robbo Leads Liverpool to 7 Wins in a Row

Date:

Andy Robertson’s Scotland Stun Erling Haaland’s Norway

Scotland captain Andy Robertson led his country to a dramatic 2-1 victory over Norway in their Euro 2024 qualifier, with Erling Haaland’s opener from the spot not enough to deny the Scots three wins from three.

Haaland Opens the Scoring

Norway took the lead shortly after the hour mark when Haaland stepped up to convert from the spot. The Borussia Dortmund striker had been a constant threat throughout the game, but Scotland refused to give up and eventually found a way back into the match.

Scotland Come From Behind to Win

Lyndon Dykes and Kenny McLean scored late goals to turn the game on its head and give Scotland a memorable victory. Robertson was quick to take to Twitter after the game, hailing the turnaround as a “massive win” for his country.

Other International Reds in Action

Elsewhere, Alisson was an unused substitute in Brazil’s 4-1 victory over Guinea, with Liverpool’s No. 1 said to have sustained a finger injury in training earlier this week. Diogo Jota was briefly involved for Portugal as they defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 3-0, replacing Fulham‘s Joao Palhinha with just a few minutes left to play. On Friday evening, Trent Alexander-Arnold showed Gareth Southgate what he’s been missing with a glorious strike en route to a 4-0 victory for England over Malta, with Jordan Henderson also involved from the start. Ibrahima Konate kept a clean sheet as France ran out 3-0 winners away to Gibraltar, while Kostas Tsimikas got 90 minutes for Greece as they defeated Republic of Ireland 2-1 with Caoimhin Kelleher an unused substitute and the only Red to taste defeat. Luis Diaz‘s Colombia picked up a 1-0 win in a friendly at home to Iraq, capping off a successful round of fixtures for the international Reds.

Conclusion

It was a successful round of international fixtures for Liverpool’s players, with Robertson’s Scotland stealing the show with a dramatic comeback against Norway. Alexander-Arnold and Henderson also impressed for England, while Jota, Konate and Tsimikas all featured for their respective countries. Alisson was an unused substitute for Brazil due to an injury sustained in training, but Diaz managed to pick up a win for Colombia in their friendly against Iraq. All in all, it was a successful set of fixtures for the Reds!
