The recent unveiling of a statue in honour of former River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo has left fans scratching their heads. While the statue depicts Gallardo celebrating with the Copa Libertadores trophy, it is the massive bulge in the crotch area that has captured fans’ attention and left them confused.
Gallardo, who managed River Plate between 2014 and 2022, led the team to numerous victories, including the Primera Division in 2021 and the Copa Libertadores in 2015 and 2018. As a former player, he also won the Copa Libertadores in 1996 and helped River Plate to six league titles between 1993 and 2004.
To pay tribute to his contributions to the club, River Plate built a statue of Gallardo holding aloft the Copa Libertadores. However, fans have been quick to point out the unusual bulge in the statue’s crotch area, with some commenting that “Gallardo is packing” and others questioning what is going on with the statue.
Despite the confusion, fans are still showing their appreciation for Gallardo’s achievements as both a player and a manager. The statue serves as a reminder of his success and his impact on River Plate.
