Rising Liverpool stars sustain injuries, adding to growing injury list
Liverpool’s injury woes continue to mount as several of their rising stars suffer injuries while out on loan. Curtis Jones, Diogo Jota, and Darwin Nunez all left the field injured during Liverpool’s match against Brentford. Unfortunately, two of the Reds’ loanees also suffered a similar fate.
Starting with the bad news, Owen Beck was forced off with an injury during Dundee’s 2-0 win over Ross County. The young defender was substituted in the 73rd minute due to “tight groins,” according to manager Tony Docherty. However, Docherty reassured fans that Beck’s substitution was merely a precautionary measure.
Another player who had to withdraw from a match due to injury was Tyler Morton. The midfielder left Hull’s 2-1 win against Huddersfield in the 32nd minute after suffering an ankle injury. Hull manager Liam Rosenior stated that Morton’s ankle had swollen up and would require pain management to reduce the swelling.
On a positive note, Morton’s teammate at Hull and Liverpool, Fabio Carvalho, managed to complete the full match without any injury concerns. Carvalho played for 63 minutes and was not involved in the injury time chaos that saw Huddersfield equalize before Hull’s late winner.
Meanwhile, Liverpool loanee Sepp van den Berg had an impressive afternoon as he scored the only goal for Mainz in their victory. Van den Berg’s flicked header from a free-kick secured Mainz’s first win since early November. However, the young Dutchman recently admitted in an interview with VoetbalNieuws that he may have to leave Liverpool in the next transfer window.
Moving on to another Liverpool loanee, Nat Phillips had a less successful afternoon for Cardiff as they suffered a 4-1 defeat against Norwich in the Championship. Phillips will be hoping for better results in the future as he continues his loan spell.
In Lancashire, Liverpool’s loaned full-backs had contrasting performances. Luke Chambers showcased his defensive solidity, playing the full 90 minutes and helping Wigan secure a 1-0 win over Shrewsbury. On the other hand, Calvin Ramsay only managed to play 11 minutes of injury time in Bolton’s 3-3 draw with Charlton.
Elsewhere, Adam Lewis played in his preferred left wing-back role for Newport, contributing to their 1-0 victory against Gillingham. Dominic Corness experienced a defeat with Yverdon, losing 3-1 to Lausanne. However, Marcelo Pitaluga enjoyed a 1-0 win with St Patrick’s Athletic against Galway United, while Harvey Davies kept a clean sheet in a goalless draw against Harrogate Town.
In conclusion, injuries continue to plague Liverpool’s young stars, both in the first team and out on loan. While some players have suffered setbacks, others have shown promise and resilience. As the season progresses, it remains to be seen how these loaned players will contribute to Liverpool’s future success.
