Rio Ferdinand Suggests Premier League Wingers to Improve Rasmus Hojlund’s Goalscoring Record at Manchester United
Former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand believes that Jarrod Bowen, Michael Olise, and Jacob Murphy, among other Premier League wingers, could significantly improve Rasmus Hojlund’s goalscoring record if they played for Manchester United.
Hojlund, who joined Manchester United from Atalanta in a £72 million deal during the summer, has yet to score his first goal in the Premier League despite making 12 appearances. Although he has scored five goals in the Champions League group stage, his lack of goals in the league has been a cause for concern.
Ferdinand attributes Hojlund’s struggles to a lack of service from United’s wide players. He believes that wingers like Olise, Harrison, McNeil, and Murphy prioritize providing crosses and creating scoring opportunities for their strikers. Ferdinand suggests that if Hojlund had these types of wingers in his team, he would have already scored five or six goals.
Ferdinand also discussed Bruno Fernandes, stating that he is the only United player in recent years who has maintained his transfer value during his time at the club. Ferdinand questions the improvement of other players who have joined Manchester United and suggests that they would not fetch the same transfer fees if they were to be sold.
