Rio Ferdinand and his wife Kate were recently spotted posing together as the former England footballer was inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame in London. In the photo, Ferdinand can be seen placing his hand on Kate’s baby bump, as the couple is expecting a sister for their little boy. Kate, who is a former star of the reality TV show The Only Way Is Essex, is also a stepmother to Ferdinand’s three children from his previous marriage to Rebecca.
Ferdinand, who played for West Ham, Leeds United, and QPR in addition to Manchester United, was selected for the Hall of Fame after a vote by fans worldwide. He is one of the greatest defenders in Premier League history, having won six titles and made 504 appearances. He joins eight other legendary players who were inducted in 2021 and 2022, as well as managers Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger, who are the first coaches to be inducted.
Reflecting on his achievement, Ferdinand said, “As a defender, I’m not used to celebrating personal glory – we leave that to the midfielders and strikers!” He and Kate tied the knot in September 2019 in a lavish ceremony at a five-star resort in Marmaris, Turkey. The couple exchanged vows in front of 180 friends and family members, with guests reportedly enjoying the hotel’s stunning ocean and mountain views. Kate also had a wild hen party in Mykonos just seven months after getting engaged.
