Rio Ferdinand: Chelsea’s January Signing Already ‘Alarmed’ at Stamford Bridge

Rio Ferdinand has expressed his concerns about the situation at Chelsea, stating that several players will be “alarmed” by the state of the club. The Blues have had a turbulent season both on and off the pitch, slipping into the bottom half of the Premier League and underperforming in the Champions League and cup competitions. Ferdinand believes that Chelsea’s volume of players could be alarming for some of the players there, with many of them unsure where they stand and likely to be surplus to requirements come the summer. He also suggested that Benoit Badiashile, a £35m January signing from Monaco, will be growing frustrated by the chaos, having started just eight games for Chelsea and being unable to be included in the club’s Champions League squad. Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has also criticised his former club, stating that a bloated squad with 30 players is difficult to manage for any coach and that Chelsea lack charismatic players and leaders.
