Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has expressed his preference for Tottenham’s Harry Kane over Napoli’s Victor Osimhen as a potential summer transfer target for the club. United have been linked with both strikers as they look to bring in a new No.9 ahead of the 2023-24 season, but Ferdinand believes Kane would be the better option. While Ferdinand would be “happy” with either player, he feels that Kane guarantees 25 goals a season and would be a safer bet for United. However, he acknowledged that Osimhen has scored goals in France and Italy and won the league in Italy, but there is an “unknown factor” as to whether he can adapt to the Premier League. Chelsea are also reportedly interested in signing Osimhen, who would cost at least €150m.
