Rice’s Phone Call with Tuchel Reveals Time Running Out for Arsenal

Date:

Reports suggest that West Ham’s Declan Rice has spoken with Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel about a potential summer move to the German champions. It is believed that Bayern are preparing to submit an initial bid of £95 million for the midfielder, in an attempt to beat Arsenal to his signature. Rice, who is the captain of West Ham and an England international, is approaching the final year of his contract, and although the London club has an option to extend it for a further season, there is said to be a gentleman’s agreement to sell him for a record British transfer fee. Arsenal are thought to be leading the race for Rice, with Manchester United also monitoring the situation. The player’s decision could have a significant impact on the future of Chelsea’s Mason Mount, who is reportedly keen to play at the same club as his friend next season. Bayern’s interest in Rice has thrown a spanner in the works, with Tuchel having previously tried to bring him to Stamford Bridge during his time at Chelsea. Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg claims that Rice is open to joining Bayern, and the Germans are now ready to up their pursuit. However, they will have to move quickly, with Arsenal apparently closing in on his signature.
